Evaluation of the mentor scheme

The purpose of this report is to give a detailed and updated view on use of the mentor scheme, including an assessment by the people involved in the scheme. Among other things, the study shows that the mentor scheme is primarily used by citizens who are far removed from the labour market and have complex social or personal problems. This means that the work of the mentors is often of a social nature in that they are often just helping people to get through the day. Furthermore, participants in the mentor scheme have a vastly different perception of whether the scheme is working as intended. 81% of the mentors interviewed assessed that, after taking part in the scheme, citizens are better at coping with the challenges that caused them to be allocated a mentor, compared with 37% of the mentees themselves. In total, 43,485 people were included in the analyses. Of these, 15,091 (35%) began in 2012, 19,145 (44%) in 2013 and 9,249 (21%) in 2014.
