Jens-Peter Thomsen's main research interest lies within the areas of social stratification and the sociology of education, with a main focus on the later educational transitions of young people. He is particularly interested in how socialization processes, child-rearing techniques and educational strategies in families with different cultural, social and economic resources shape educational opportunities. He uses a mix of quantitative and qualitative methods.

Jens-Peter Thomsen's main research interests lie in the areas of social stratification and the sociology of education. He is particularly interested in how socialization processes, child-rearing techniques and educational strategies in families with different cultural, social and economic resources shape educational opportunities. He uses a mix of quantitative and qualitative methods and he is experienced in working with registry data, and with exploratory and confirmatory statistical methods. Futhermore he has extensive experience in conducting field observations and interviews. Jens-Peter Thomsen is a highly experienced project leader, having managed three major research projects at the Danish Center for Social Science Research.
