Danish primary and lower secondary schools are currently undergoing a number of changes with the aim of creating " the world's best public school."
These changes include longer school days and today Danish pupils
rank among the top OECD countries when it
comes to the number of instruction hours in primary and lower secondary school. Historically, research has debated whether more instruction hours benefit the pupils. However, recent research finds a clear positive effect of
more instruction hours on student performance. In this document we discuss the pros and cons of more instruction hours.
