This is the first sub-report in a series of reports from a project about municipal preventive measures used as an alternative to placing children and young people in care.
The purpose of the project is to procure and systematise knowledge about municipal practices, experiences and results in relation to preventive work with vulnerable children and young people. The project is to result in a catalogue of examples of good practices to be disseminated to municipalities in Denmark, so they will be more qualified to provide the relevant support and help to vulnerable children and young people.
This report describes the survey design and selection of the 23 measures and 10 municipalities included in the project. In addition, the report includes a knowledge compilation, which, for example, illustrates the characteristics of vulnerable children and young people as well as experiences with and effects of evidence-based methods.
The following five sub-reports will deal with measures targeting different age groups (0-4 years, 5-9 years, 10-13 years, 14-17 years and 18-22 years). The main results from all these sub-reports will be pooled in the main report at the end of the project.
The project has been commissioned by the National Board of Social Services and conducted by Danish National Centre for Social Research (SFI) collaboratively with Cowi A/S.
